ANITA JOSEPHINE SIMANDL
1924 - 2013
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the McCall Centre in Toronto. She was in her 89th year and lived a full life.
Beloved wife of the late Jim Simandl, whom she was married to for 58 wonderful years. Dear mother of Steve, John (Susan), Dave (Monique), Jim (Rosemary) and Jane. Loving grandmother to Carley, Elaine, Hillary, Danielle, Alex, Marlee, James, Kate, Madeline and Will.
Anita was born on June 29, 1924 and grew up on a farm in Chatham, with her 5 sisters and 1 brother. She married her true love and best friend, Jim, in June 1951 and together they raised 5 children. Above all else, family was first in our Mother's heart. Not one to sit on the sidelines, Anita, so very vital, pursued many interests like skiing, tennis, skating, boating, fishing, golf and loved to share these interests with her family. Anita and Jim spent their summers on Georgian Bay and many beautiful winters in Florida where they formed warm and long-lasting friendships that they cherished.
Mom, we thank you for your unconditional love and encouragement. Your kind heart, gentle spirit and immeasurable quiet strength will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
The family would like to thank Mom's loving caregivers, Jessie and Conie for their compassion and dedication to helping Mom live her last few years with dignity.
Visitation at Turner & Porter 'Butler' Chapel, 4933 Dundas St W. on Tuesday, January 22, from 7 - 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory's Church, 122 Rathburn Rd, Etobicoke on Wednesday January 23 at 12:30pm followed by interment ceremony at Park Lawn Cemetery.
