The Honourable Hugh David Logan Retired Judge- Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Logan David ~ born January 15, 1933, passed away on January 17, 2013. He is predeceased by his parents Dr. Hugh and Phyllis Logan and his brother, Ian; lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela, sons Hugh (Patty), Peter (Tina), and daughter Jocelyn (Robert), and grandchildren David, Liam and Phoebe. He will be missed by his sisters Jane and Ann, brother Sandy, and his many friends. David graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1961, and in 1963 returned to his home town of Lindsay where he practiced law for the next 17 years. He had a passion to contribute to the betterment of his community. He was a member of Town Council from 1964 - 1970 and mayor from 1971 - 1978. He served as member and then president of the Association of Small Urban Municipalities and on the Board of Trent University. In 1981, he was elevated to the bench as Judge of the County Court of Simcoe. In 1984, he became Senior Judge for the District Court of Ontario in Simcoe. He served as Regional Senior Justice for Central East for the Superior Court of Justice from 1996-1999. David was always active in sports. While at School he played hockey, football and curled, and in later years he took up tennis, skiing and golf. He was an avid gardener, a dedicated student to history and he travelled extensively. The Logan family wishes to thank the staff at the Bob Rumball Center for the Deaf where he spent the last three years. Family and friends are invited to Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street Lindsay, on Friday January 25 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service from Cambridge Street United Church Lindsay on Saturday January 26, at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society or a charity of one's choice may be made through the funeral home or online at www.mackeys.ca.
