FISHER, Charles Parker PhD.
April 13, 1926 - January 15, 2013

Charles was born in Toronto to Georgina and Fred Fisher. He was the third of four children, brothers John and Talbot and sister Jebb. As a young man, Chuck joined the 400th squadron of the RCAF, where he became a member of the Mach Buster's Club, breaking the sound barrier in his F-86 Sabre jet. In 1956, he married Lillian Row of Brockville with whom he would have two children and share 49 years of marriage. Despite having quit grade school before graduating, Charles was able to earn a PhD in Engineering from the University of Texas, an accomplishment he was very proud of. He held many professional positions, including as Professor of Civil Engineering at Waterloo University, and with the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington. During the 1960-70s he was the Vice President of the International Association on Water Pollution Research. Charles was an avid outdoorsman, hiking the length of the Bruce Trail nine times.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, siblings and beloved wife Lillian. Sons Tim of St Catharines and Mark (Joanne McGrath) of Yellowknife, and granddaughters Meaghan, Whitney and Courtney are left to celebrate a life well-lived.
The family is very grateful for the companionship and care that was provided by Imran, Arlene and the staff at Comfort Keepers of Oakville and Burlington. Many thanks also to the caring staff of the Brant Centre.
Condolences can be sent to FisherYK@Gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's memory can be made to the Bruce Trail Conservancy. https:// brucetrail.org/store/donate. Memorial service to be held at a later date.
