Orpha Garfield Garriock (nee Farr)
''When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home- what joy shall fill my heart!'':
After a long life filled with love and happiness, Orpha Garfield Garriock (nee Farr) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto on January 13th, 2013. Raised in Woodbridge, she stood out from the crowd with her fiery red hair, quick wit and talent for music. The church choir performed for troops returning from WWII where she met Norn Garriock, who asked for her hand in marriage. Together they raised a wonderful family, became pillars of their local community and church, and circumnavigated the globe. After Norn's passing late in life, Orpha met James Hunter (an old friend and college classmate of Norn's) and remarried, embracing a growing family and enjoying retirement together.
Her legacy will be the many people she helped to achieve their dreams, leaving behind her cherished children Roger (Faith), Anne Elizabeth Jones-Abel (Mike), Chris (predeceased 2011) (Greta) and Robert Kirk. Adored grandmother of Sarah (George), Martha (Mark), Rebekah, Evan (Johanna), Amy (Darryl), Megan (Will), Erin and Scott and great grandmother of Anneke, Merrick, Grace, Callum and Keira. Dear stepmother of David Hunter (Joanne), Jane Hunter (Patrick Clifford) and Susan Goss (H.R.). Orpha will also be sadly missed by her many special life long friends. Friends will be received at SCOTT FUNERAL HOME ''Woodbridge'' 7776 Kipling Ave. (North of Hwy 7) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9. A celebration of Orpha's life will be held at Woodbridge United Church (8090 Kipling Ave. Woodbridge) on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. Donations to Woodbridge United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
