CONRATH, Helen Eileen (nee Boehler)
Helen died on January 12, 2013 at the age of 84 after a short illness borne with gratitude for her long and happy life. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Conrath for 51 years, cherished mother of Christopher, John (Tamara with her daughter Hannah), Anne, and Claire (Andrew Suhay), loving Nana of little Joe and the twins Eileen and Audrey and a very dear sister of Msgr. Edward Boehler and the late Kathleen Boehler. Daughter of the late Edward and Eileen Boehler. She will also be fondly remembered by her in-laws and many nieces, nephews and friends. Helen grew up in St. Peter's Parish, Toronto, where her strong faith was nurtured by her loving parents and the Paulist Fathers at St. Peter's, the Sisters at St. Joseph's Convent and College School, and the wonderful staff and students at St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto where she was a scholarship student in her much loved English Language and Literature Course. Two jobs she enjoyed immensely followed - editorial work with the University Toronto Press and the Toronto Star. These years coincided with her active membership in the Toronto Newman Alumni Club, where she met and married her beloved and devoted husband Joe. They have lived for 48 years in their west-end Toronto home while enjoying summers at their Muskoka cottage Conrathmara and many trips at home and abroad. Her family and friends loved the many poems she wrote to celebrate reunions and special occasions. During her years as a stay-at-home mother she was involved in school and neighbourhood organizations, an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church where she was co- ordinator of shut-in visiting for 25 years and worked tirelessly for many other Parish projects. Helen was an avid bridge player in the group she founded 40 years ago and a dear friend of so many over the years. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of Jane subway, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor St. W. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Avenue, Toronto. Rest in peace dear heart. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. On-line condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
