Gina Ann Elizabeth Speer (née Ruddy)
February 14th, 1951 to January 8th, 2013
Peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Gina passed away in the early morning of January 8th, 2013.
She will be profoundly missed by her devoted husband, Fred Speer and her children Jennifer (Graeme Grant) and Michael (Christine). She will always be the loving ''Nan'' of Georgina, Hazel, and Eloise Speer and Julian Grant. Gina is predeceased by her dear parents John and Georgina Ruddy and her beautiful sisters Julia and Christina Ruddy. She will forever be in the hearts of her brothers, John (Jennifer), Michael (Catherine), and Joseph Ruddy. She will be fondly remembered by Jessie (Bill, died 1992), Douglas (Denise Castonguay), Robert (Marion York), and Donald (Diane) Speer; and by her Aunt Helen Winslade (nee Ruddy) of Montreal. Gina will be terribly missed by her nieces and nephews: Nikola, Sonya, Amanda, Samantha, Rebecca, Jake, and Alexandra Ruddy; Jack and Joseph McLaughlin; and Sarah, Freddy, Jessie, Hannah, and Jackson Speer.
Visitation will take place at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, January 11th, 2013 between 6 and 9PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at 3PM in the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre. Reception to fallow. Burial service will be held in the late-Spring at the Norway Bay Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Gina's name to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation (Gynecology-Oncology Department or Complex Cancer Pain Clinic) and to The Elisabeth Bruyère Foundation.
We would like to express our immense gratitude to the Palliative team on the 5th floor at Elisabeth Bruyère for their months of careful attention to Gina and our family.
