Jean Shirly Heaton (nee Jackson) September 12, 1931 - January 8, 2013
Jean passed away suddenly on Tuesday evening. Loving wife of Doug Heaton (predeceased 1982), mother of Jim (Sharon) and Linda, grandmother of Jessica, Melissa, Amanda, Jennifer, Rebecca and Doug, Jean will be forever remembered for her generosity, kindness, and her unwavering love for her family. A true character, Jean grew up in Cabbagetown with her parents Ruth and Norm Jackson and her brother Skip. Jean met the love of her life, Doug Heaton at Drug Trading and they married in 1952, later raising their family in Don Mills. Jean was an avid bowler and curler and a cottager on Stormy Lake in Haliburton. As one of the original families on the lake, Jean enjoyed participating in building the original Heaton cottage, which weathered more storms than anyone could have imagined. Jean loved bingo, Rama, her soaps, Tom Jones, ice cubes in her wine, playing cards and her family. She will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013 at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m., service to follow at 6 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jean's memory to the Canadian Lung Association or The Salvation Army.
