Grant Stuart McRae 1922 – 2013 (RCAF, P.O.W., 619 Squadron 5 Group RAF) Peacefully, on January 8, with family at his side. Beloved husband of June for 66 years. Loving father of Linda and her husband Barry McQuillan, Robert and his wife Dorise Nina, and Lesley and her husband Grant Troop. Very proud grandfather of Kevan, Laura and Sean McRae, James McQuillan, and Robyn and Megan Troop. Survived by his sister, Jean Watson and sisters-in-law, Mabel and Betty Whiting. Predeceased by his parents, Charlotte and Arthur McRae, brother, Lorne McRae and cousin, Mel Watson. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Grant led a very active life. He was a lifetime member of St. James United Church in Etobicoke where he served as an elder. He was an active member of the Islington Kiwanis and a volunteer at West Park. He participated proudly in the RCAF Prisoners of War Association and was a past Chairman of the Aircrew Association, Toronto Branch. As a co-founder of the Memory Project, www.thememoryproject.com, Grant received the Senior Achievement Award of the Province of Ontario and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. He enjoyed many activities and sports with family and friends; tennis, hiking, golf, lawn bowling, skiing and curling and barbershop singing. Grant had a successful career in sales and marketing and retired as an executive with Safeguard Business Systems. Above all, Grant was a wonderful human being who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves.), on Friday from 1:30 - 3 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. James United Church, 400 Burnhamthorpe Rd., Etobicoke, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Private interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
