TELFER, Jessica (Joy) (nee Riddel)
After a long and wonderful life Joy passed away in her home on January 4. She was the dearly beloved wife of the late James Gordon Telfer and proud and loving mother of James (Gail Stratton), Lorna (Peter O'Brien) and the late Sheila (Michael Watts). She was a devoted 'Gran' to her cherished grandchildren Gordon, Alex, Fiona, and Patricia Watts and James, Robert and Daniel O'Brien and a loving aunt to Kenneth (Lori Spence), Jennifer and Alexander Shaw, the children of her only sister, the late Sheila Shaw. She will be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends in both Canada and Scotland. Joy was born and raised in Toronto, where she attended the Bishop Strachan School, the Royal Conservatory of Music and figure skated at the Granite Club. As a classically trained pianist Joy passed her love and gift for music on to her children and grandchildren. She was proud to serve her country as a Lt. in the Wrens during World War II. She and her soul mate Gordon were married in 1946 and lived for over 50 years in the Town of Mount Royal where she was a Brown Owl, curled at the TMR Curling Club and in her later years was an active member of the 'Stitch and Bitch Club'. Joy loved everything about golf, was an honorary member of the Royal Montreal Golf Club and enjoyed introducing her grandchildren to the game. Her greatest passion throughout her life was her extended family. The family would like to thank all the staff at Place Kensington. A service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mount Royal Chapel at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex at 1297 Chemin de la F˘ret, Outremont, Québec 514-279-6540 www.mountroyalcem.com.
