Passed away suddenly on January 4, 2013 in the course of cardiovascular surgery. Born March 22, 1951 in the family bakery in Rotteval, Friesland, Holland, Dorothy came to Canada with her parents at six weeks of age. A lifelong resident of the Kitchener-Waterloo area, she completed a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree at Ryerson University in May 1976 before returning home to work in various administrative and personnel capacities at several local companies and later as a homemaker. Dorothy loved to read and to travel, whether by land or sea, and had a knack for finding hotels that were off the beaten track and had distinctive architecture and ambience. She also loved to work out at the Kitchener YMCA and walk with friends. Beloved wife of Bill Wilson, proud and loving mother of Matthew Wilson, cherished daughter of John and Sybil Wynia, she is fondly remembered by brothers Frank (Carolee) Wynia, Richard (Mary) Wynia, and Johnny (Penny) Wynia and nieces and nephews Christopher, Samantha, Simone, Leif, Aaron, and Leah, great nephew Rylan. She will be sorely missed, but we will remember her kindness and generosity of spirit. Visitation will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, ON N2G 1C7 on Tuesday January 8th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. and on Wednesday January 9th from 7-9 pm. A Private family Funeral Service will be on Thursday January 10th at 11 am. at Ratz-Bechtel. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the cardiovascular unit of St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener would be greatly appreciated.
