DUNSFORD, Ruth Eleanor Follick

Ruth passed away peacefully at Wildwood Care Centre, St Marys Ontario on January 3, 2013. She was born December 24, 1917 at the family home in St. Marys, third child of Dr. Leonard L. Follick and his wife Zella G. Rea. Her beloved husband Kenneth Luke Dunsford, whom she married December 26, 1942, predeceased her in May 1987. Surviving are her children Kathryn (Brian) Coleman of Motherwell, Susan (Eric) McKay of London, Jean (Terry) O'Rourke of Exeter, and Lucinda (Alan) Brailsford of Sioux Lookout. Ruth will be deeply missed by her much-loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Chrystal Coleman and Michael Lawton; Corrina Coleman; Dr. Mary Rea Stock, John Brennan, and Isaac Currah; Anne, Tim, Aude, and Eloise Stock-Bateman; Kenneth Stock; Meaghan, Derek, Duncan, and Katrijn Copp; Kieran O'Rourke and Tara Litherland; Cpl. Eamon and Melissa O'Rourke; Mairead O'Rourke; Kate and Robert Wesley; Amy, Henry, and Emmett Wall; Allison and Isak Wall; Mark and Janet Brailsford; Carmen Brailsford. Ruth was predeceased by her brother Dr. Frederick Follick (Jean) and her sisters Evelyn (Denney) Charles and Marion (Allister) Murray. Several Murray nieces and nephews survive. In 1941 Ruth graduated from Victoria Hospital School of Nursing (London) and worked as a Registered Nurse at Beth Haven, a private hospital in St. Marys. She was a life-long member of St. Marys United Church where she, along with her parents and siblings, and later her daughters, sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Nora Clench Chapter IODE, and the Graduate Nurses Association. Unwavering devotion to her family, compassionate care of animals, and a never-ending love of time with family at Oakwood were her passion. Many lives have been touched and enriched by this gentle, loving, and devoted woman. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Marys United Church, 85 Church St. South, St. Marys, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The Reverend Randy Besta will officiate. In Ruth's honour, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys United Church, St Marys Memorial Hospital Foundation, or any animal welfare agency.
