Brian MacConnell died peacefully in his home on January 1st after a long and dignified battle with cancer, attended by family and caregivers. Pre-deceased by his wife Emily, survived by children Kate, Brian (Dianne), Mike (Judy), Deborah (Rae) and Patrick (Svetlana), sister Nell, and grandchildren Robert, Andrew, Edward, Sean, Madeleine, Claire, Sasha and Misha. A kind and gentle man, he will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. A spitfire pilot and mining engineer, Brian led a full and active life, enjoying athletic activities, hiking, travel, reading and watercolour painting, or just to sit and watch nature with his coffee and a cigar. He leaves a legacy of love, and a model for all on how to age with dignity and grace. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Saturday. January. 12, 2013 from 1 p.m. until time of Service in the chapel at 3 p.m. Special thanks to the health care professionals at the CCAC, St. Elizabeth Home Health Care Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
