HUGH JOHN TODD YOUNG

Hugh passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his wife Ursula in 2009; Hugh is survived by his son Martin, daughter Heather (John), and his two grandsons Alexander and Tiernan. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and completed his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Manitoba. He married Ursula in 1957 and after many perambulations they settled down in Victoria in 1983. Hugh had two loves in life, cars and planes. Bentleys were his main love. He owned a Speed Six for a while and was a very active member in the Bentley Drivers Club taking part in many rallies, meets and tours. He was editor of the BDC Review and a Vice President of the club. The Bentley B was engraved on his heart. In Victoria, he was a volunteer with the Royal BC Museum, UVic's engineering department and St. Michaels University School. He was also a member of the Vancouver Island Aircrew Association. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Church, 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Road, on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson's Centre.
