Gloria Andreas passed away peacefully, with her daughter at her side, after a nearly lifelong struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was predeceased by her parents; Herbert E. Cox & Edith ''Molly'' Cox; and also, tragically in 1983, by her son Stephen. She leaves behind her daughters Marion (Steven) and Lynn as well as four grandchildren; Ewan, Tessa, Stephanie and Kyle. Her tenacity and strength of character was evidenced by her determination and success in living independently in her own home for nearly her entire life despite her severe and debilitating condition. The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Earl Ellis, Lisa and all the members of Beacon Community Services for countless years of dedicated service that allowed her to achieve this goal. Latterly, Gloria resided at the Glenwarren Central Park Lodge in Victoria and although her time there was brief, the family wishes to express their appreciation for the exemplary care she received. Thanks also to Dr. Maskey and the Nurses on 4 South at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassion during Gloria's final days.In accordance with Gloria's wishes, cremation will be followed by a service of remembrance to be held at the Sands Funeral Chapel; 317 Goldstream Avenue in Victoria, BC on Saturday, January 5th; 2013 at 10am with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gloria's name to the MS Society of Canada.
