HENRI WILFRID LAURIER Q. C. 1922-2012 Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 13, 2012 at the age of 90. Born on March 16, 1922, in Laurier House in Ottawa, Hank was the son of the Hon. Robert Laurier and Gabrielle Parent; grand-nephew of Sir Wilfrid Laurier and grandson of the Hon. S-N Parent, 12th Premier of Quebec and Mayor of Quebec City. It was during his summers as a guide at the Taylor Statten Camps that Hank met his future wife, the late Martha ''Tommy'' Thompson (1926-1998) from Rochester NY. Their mutual love would last through 49 years of marriage and four children. A graduate of Ottawa U (1942), he served in the RCAF and afterwards graduated from McGill Law (1949). Hank specialized in insurance and commercial law with Laurier, Wood and Aaron. He served with the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews and also as Chairman of Vanier and Dawson Colleges during the late 70's and early 80's. In 2004 at the age of 82, Hank married Rachel Turgeon with whom he spent eight wonderful and happy years. He is survived by his wife Rachel, his children Bob, Paul (Joanne Aucoin), Louise and Nicole (Roger Kauffman); his grandchildren Charles, Nathalie, Gabrielle, Marc and Laura; his brother Carl (Anne) and his wife Rachel's sons François D'Auteuil and Sylvain Boucher. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Hank's life will be held on Saturday. January 26 at The Bishop's Strachan School at 298 Lonsdale Rd, Toronto from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00pm with memorial service to begin at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada are welcomed.
