It is with great sadness that the family must announce the death of Lorraine Berg on Thursday, December 7, 2012 in Parkview Home, Long-Term Care, Stouffville, Ontario at the age of 83. Loving wife of Dick for 62 years. Beloved mother of Susan, the late Kenneth, Robert and Richard, and grandmother of Kevin, Denna, Jesse, Nicola, Jennifer, Michael and Mary. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Myrtle Ritchie, and sister Patricia. The Ritchie family moved from Giscome B. C. to New Westminster B. C. then to Victoria B. C. where Lorraine went to Margaret Jenkins School, following which she got her first job with the B. C. Provincial Government. In 1950 Lorraine and Dick were married on June 17, 1950. In Toronto, after having lived in Toronto, Kitchener, Edmonton, Ottawa then Toronto again, after the children were all in school, she worked for Welcome Wagon and Gillette as office manager for 11 years, before retiring on October 5, 1990. Lorraine was a Brown Owl in Don Mills, volunteered looking after handicapped children, a cat shelter and Care and Share, in Stouffville. She enjoyed quilting both at home, as well with her friends at church. Lorraine will be greatly missed by everyone, especially by her husband Dick. The family appreciates the services and care provided by the wonderful staff at Parkview Home, Long-Term Care. Cremation has already taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Lorraine's life will be held at Wideman Mennonite Church, 10530 Highway 48, Markham, Ontario, on January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am. The church is located on Hwy 48, north of Major MacKenzie Drive East and south of Elgin Mills Road East. A reception will follow and an opportunity for friends and family to reminisce of times gone by. A family interment will take place at a future date.
