January 1, 1925 - December 12, 2012
William (Bill) Droniuk, lovingly surrounded by family, passed away peacefully in Calgary in his 88th year after a short illness.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years Ada Jean (nee Kotch) on May 8, 2011. He is survived by his children Larry (Sandy), Lisa, and Randy (Susan); his grandchildren Corey, Claire and Jamie; and his sister Marie Jones (Bill) and their children William and Gordon.
Bill was a native of Southern Alberta, the son of Harry and Rose Droniuk, and grew up in Shaughnessy outside of Lethbridge where he met his future wife Ada. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1949 with a degree in commerce. Bill and Ada headed East where he began working at CIL in Kingston, which later became part of DuPont Canada. He spent the rest of his career at DuPont and the family lived in Brockville/Maitland, Whitby, Montreal and Toronto, with the longest stint in Montreal between 1964 and 1979, living in St. Lambert on the South Shore.
Bill loved the adventure of life to its fullest. Everyone who met him was attracted to a generous, kind and thoughtful man who was fun to be with. During their working and retirement years, Bill and Ada effortlessly acquired countless friendships and especially loved to share good times with their friends.
Bill retired in 1987; he and Ada enjoyed many wonderful years in White Rock, B. C. and then in Calgary. Among their happiest memories were the adventures they had travelling the world, but their special love was reserved for the South of France. Over the years, Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman and gastronome who loved to cook up awesome meals for friends and family. His ultimate love was for family and we all treasure how he never stopped giving so much of himself to us.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later time. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Thank you to Drs. Murray, Reimer, Pawlik and Weatherall and the staff at Rockyview Hospital for their wonderful efforts and support.
