The Right Reverend Morse C. Robinson
1920 - 2012
Bishop Robinson died Friday, December 7th in St. Catharines General Hospital after a brief illness. He spent his life in the service of the Anglican Church of Canada, a kindly, warm ''gentleman of the church,'' admired and loved by all who met him.
His beloved wife Joan died in 2004 as they planned their 60th wedding anniversary celebration. Morse was a graduate of Bishop's University and was proud to have been a member of that school's famed football team, the Bishop's Gaiters. His career in the church took him from a tiny parish in Wainfleet Ontario to journeys around the world, and he gained new friends wherever he went. Morse and Joan are survived by their two daughters, Janet Youngman and Barbara Jocelyn (Jodey) Porter, grandchildren Shannon and Christopher and great-grandchild London.
Much of Morse's career was spent in Huron Diocese, where he was consecrated bishop in 1974. For the last decade of his life he lived in the Niagara Region to be close to his family.
At Bishop Robinson's request a Memorial Service will be held in St. Mark's Church Niagara-on-the-Lake, on May 25, 2013 at 2 p.m., when the orchards are in bloom, on the Feast Day of his favourite saint the Venerable Bede.
Donations in Bishop Robinson's memory should be made to St. Mark's Church, POB 582 in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Memories, photos and condolences can be shared at www.morganfuneral.com
