HENDERSON, Peter R.
With sadness, the family and friends of Peter Henderson announce his death in Huntsville on Wednesday, December 5 after a lengthy illness. Peter will be missed by all who knew him, especially by the numerous students whose lives he touched, his work colleagues and church friends. His death is a great loss to two special friends since childhood, Margaret of Ottawa and Jane of Port Perry. Peter is pre- deceased by his parents, Eva and Orville Henderson. Peter began his secondary school teaching career in Sturgeon Falls and maintained connections with the community throughout his life. He spent the majority of his career teaching at King City Secondary School and roamed the world each summer in search of new information and stories to enrich his classes. Always the perfect gentleman, Peter's sense of humour, love of learning and ability to connect with everyone he met endeared him to many. Instead of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be sent to: The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, 525 University Avenue, 14th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M5G 2L3. (Please note in the donation it is in support of Marrow Failure and Myelodysplasia Research.) A funeral is planned at St. Thomas' Anglican Church, 383 Huron St., Toronto, on Wednesday, December 12 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception and an opportunity for friends and family to reminisce about this unique and lovable man.
