CARR, Sally Jean (nee Morrison)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sally Carr on December 5, 2012, at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, at the age of 74. Born in Toronto on April 7, 1938, she was the daughter of Yvonne (nee Apps) and Carson Morrison and the older sister to Joseph Morrison (Susan).
Beloved wife of David for 43 years, loving mother to Jeffrey (Josette), Tracy (Todd) and stepmother to Susan Hoyle-Howieson (Joseph). Sally was the proud grandmother of Jordan, Jessica and Makayla Rickards, Gabrielle and Lucas Carr, and Cameron and Evan Howieson.
Sally was a graduate of Branksome Hall (class of '57) and went on to work as a dental hygienist in Toronto and North York. The family moved to Newmarket in 1980, where they put down roots and built a solid group of friends in the community.
Among her many pursuits, Sally will be remembered most for her passion for bowling. Twice a week she took part in the Newmarket Seniors' League, where she formed strong alliances. Sally also delighted in crossword puzzles, and it was characteristic of her to approach friends and strangers alike to assist in solving clues. A thoughtful person, Sally made a point of getting to know the people she came into contact with, and would commemorate any occasion by sending them cards: birthday, anniversary, Easter and Christmas.
She enjoyed summering at the cottage on Georgian Bay, and spending winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with David and their local friends.
Friends are invited to call at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral home, 157 Main Street, Newmarket, visiting December 11th 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service in celebration of her life will be held on December 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
