Dr. Olga Mavis Rampersaud
MRCS, LRCP; DGO; MRCOG; LMCC; DPH; FRCOG Obstetrician & Gynaecologist; Associate Medical Officer of Health
Died on December 3rd, 2012, after an extensive battle with Parkinson's disease. Dr. Rampersaud emigrated to Canada in November 1967. She obtained the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada LMCC and was appointed to the staff of the Toronto East General and Wellesley Hospitals. Mavis held the position of Public Health Physician, Director of Medical Services and Preventive Clinical Manager for the Western Health Area of the City of Toronto and Associate Medical Officer of Health. She served on numerous committees and held a cross appointment as Lecturer at the University of Toronto. She undertook the review and evaluation of the programs and services so as to maximize the impact of allocated resources in the changing multicultural context of Toronto. Mavis is survived by her sisters Enid Fitzpatrick and Diane Ali. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 354 St Clair Ave Toronto (east of Bathurst St.), on Saturday December 8th at 10am, followed by a reception at the church. Additional memorial services will be held in Trinidad, West Indies, date and time to be announced. The family requests that instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada.
