GO, Gun Eng
Born January 2, 1922, Manila, Philippines. Surrounded by her loving family, Gun Eng passed away on November 30, 2012. She leaves behind her children: Teck, Yu (Lynne), Kai, Keng, Amy (Henry), Avvy (Michael) and grandchildren Stephanie and Sean. Gun Eng grew up in China, got married and moved to Hong Kong in the early 1950's. A loving mother who devoted her life caring for her family, Gun Eng loved music, poetry and novels. She was compassionate towards those less fortunate. An avid reader, she instilled a love for reading in her children. She keenly followed current affairs, yet another passion she had passed on to her children. After immigrating to Canada in 1982, she became a terrific fan of such TV soap operas as All My Children and General Hospital, and was able to follow the story- lines despite her limited English. Gun Eng became a Canadian citizen in the late 1980's - after having spent months studying she in fact scored perfect on her citizenship test. To celebrate her life, a service will be held on December 8, 2012, 9:30 a.m. at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, Ontario, internment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery. Visitation on December 7, 2012, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Yeehong Centre for Geriatric Care.
