Oct. 12, 1923 - Nov. 25, 2012
Died peacefully on November 25, 2012 in his 90th year, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Peter was the beloved and devoted husband of Elspeth Jean (his Jeannie) for 64 years, and the loving father of Anne (Arnie). Lifelong friend of David White in Norwich, England, and of Frances McDonald in Delta, B. C. A veteran of World War II, Peter was a Chartered Accountant whose career began in England, and after emigrating to Canada in 1952, he worked for many years at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, as well as for the Government of Canada, Department of Excise Tax. Peter was truly devoted to his family, and embodied what it was to be a real gentleman: a man of integrity, generosity and honesty. His wonderful sense of humour will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have experienced it; and he was always at the ready with a toolkit to help all and sundry with household repairs. Thanks to the friendship of the members of the Cedar Ridge Art Class, which Peter attended for many years, after discovering his interest and ability in painting, subsequent to his retirement. Special thanks for the compassionate care provided by the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook. Cremation has taken place, and it was Peter's wish that there be no service. Donations in Peter's memory can be made to the University Settlement Music and Arts School, 23 Grange Road, Toronto, Ontario M5T 1C3.
