At Leisureworld Lawrence, on November 19, 2012, while his friend Penny and niece Cathy discussed his love for the English language. Devoted husband of the late Marion Rickard. Beloved brother-in-law of Mary Farr and Jean Rickard. Loved for his sense of humour and gentle nature by many nieces and nephews in the Farr, McFaul, Rickard, Loewen, and Buxton families. Remembered with affection and respect by generations of Downsview Collegiate English students. Active member of the Glynnwood Retirement Community. Fred enjoyed theatre and opera. He delighted in word play and loved movies, especially those starring Bette Davis. He believed in civility, and that correctness and care in the use of language were important qualities both for thought and human interaction. All of these values were integral to his life and his relations with others. Special thanks to Andrew Rickard, Penny Barr, and Gail Rickard. It was Fred's wish that there be no service. Donations in Fred's memory can be made to: Victoria College, TVO, or WNED-TV. On-line condolences can be made to www.chapelridgefh.com
