JULIO VICTOR IRIBARNE
Formerly of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Toronto, J. V. Iribarne passed away on 15 November 2012 aged 96. He was the much loved husband of Agripina, father to Gabriela and father-in-law to Mark Flanagan. Julio will be deeply missed. A Doctor in Chemistry, with a specialty in Atmospheric Physics, he taught since 1966 at the Department of Physics of the University of Toronto becoming Professor Emeritus in 1982. Fluent in three languages, he undertook research and taught in Argentina, United Kingdom, France as well as Canada. Working well past retirement, over his lifetime he published at least 55 scientific articles and co-authored three books including one entitled 'Atmospheric Thermodynamics' in 1973. He was a passionate amateur violinist and violist throughout his life, formally studying chamber music at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music upon retirement and actively participating in the Home Music Club concerts. Widely read, he was particularly fond of French literature and culture.
Friends are invited to celebrate Julio's life on Thursday, 22 November from 2 to 4 p.m. at the York Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd., North York, Toronto, Ontario. Condolences may be forwarded to www.etouch.ca.
