STUBBINS, Lorene B. (Betty)
Died peacefully on November 15, 2012, surrounded by several of those who loved her. She was in her 97th year. Daughter of Loren and Jean White. For 51 years, wife of Henry, who passed away in 1996. Sister of the late Murray White. Mother of Jeff (Marlene) and Janet (Bill). Beloved Grim to Scott (Megan), Tarra (Greg), David, Ben and Kristi (Tyler). Great-Grim to Molly, Jaxon, and Isabella. Betty set the bar very high when it came to helping and caring for others. Everyone who knew her was touched by her graciousness, kindness and optimism. A graduate of the University of British Columbia's School of Social Work, Betty spent her entire, successful career at various Children's Aid Societies - Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto. In her personal life, she was proud of her family and all of their accomplishments. As well, she loved time spent at the cottage, which she and Henry built on the shores of Lake Bernard in the Gatineau Hills, Quebec. As per her request, there is no funeral. Instead, Betty has donated her body to the School of Anatomy, University of Toronto. When the time comes, she will be laid to rest beside Henry on a hill overlooking Wakefield, Quebec. The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to April Trznadel and Eugenie Deelen for their tireless care and companionship to Betty over the years. As well, the staff at Wellesley Central Place in Toronto should be cited for their support. To honour her spirit, there is nothing that Betty would appreciate more than you performing an act of kindness for a loved one, friend... or total stranger.
