PIRIE, Olive Helen (nee Sutherland) 1914-2012
With full and grateful hearts, the family announce the passing of Olive Helen Pirie (nee Sutherland) in her 99th year on Thursday, November 15, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald (Gerry) F. Pirie (1984), the loving mother of Elizabeth, Donald (Suedean), Anne (Eldon Hay), Sheila (Jim McKibbin) and the devoted and proud grandmother of Tara (Gavin Hunter), Tanya, Melissa, Trisha, Alex, James and Donald. She will be remembered with affection by all her nieces and nephews of several generations. On Sunday, November 11, 2012 she was predeceased by her eldest niece and namesake Helen Sutherland duPlessis in Ottawa. The last of her generation and the youngest child of Minnie (Hossack) and Donald Sutherland, she was also predeceased by her dear siblings Bruce, Evan, Donald, Burleigh, Jean and John. She graduated from Macdonald Institute (1935) and worked as a dietician before marriage while remaining a lifelong supporter of the University of Guelph. The family will receive family and friends at the McBeath- Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 56 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Lonnie Atkinson officiating. Interment to follow in Ingersoll Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Alexandra Hospital Foundation, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
