KAMIEL, Ruth (nee: 'Tootsie' Rich, Fruitman)

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at North York General Hospital, at the age of 90 years. Devoted mother to Norm Fruitman and Karen Garscadden and their partners Louise Goldhar and Salomon Nezry. Adored by her daughter-in-law Janie Fruitman- Tracey and loving Bubbie to Mark and Angela, Corey and Melissa, Jonathan, Ryan, and Lesley. Great grandmother 'GIGI' to Katie, Chloe, and Zachary. Loving and devoted wife of the late Harry Kamiel, and Moe Fruitman and loving 'significant other' to the late Itz Fine and his family David and Roseanne, Leesa and Mike, Adam, Jordan, and Benji. Survived by her sister Annette (Cookie) Goodman, in-laws, Molly Beube, Phil and Sylvia Shore. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Golda Rich, siblings Gertie and Lou Catzman, Martha and Louie Lackie, Robert (Boyke) and Vera Rich, Julie Goodman, Gord and Belle Fruitman, and Harry Beube. She will be missed by her dozens of nieces and nephews, and so many friends. Special thanks to Ruth's niece Dr. Elyse Lackie and her colleagues at North York General Hospital who showed compassion and respect. To her at-home caregivers and the team at Sagecare thank you for being our extended family in helping to be sure Ruth was comfortable and always able to keep her dignity. Our family is forever grateful for the warmth and caring you all extended to our Mother. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin), for service on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Interment Temple Sinai Section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery. Ruth was petit in size, but tall in stature in the eyes of everyone who loved her. To know Ruth was a pleasure, to be her friend was a gift.
