WILLIAM M. (BILL) BAGGS
1922 – 2012
Peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2012, at Credit Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his first wife Mary (Dubois) who died in 1985. Survived by his present wife, Nan Spurr, his three step-children, Jane (Susan MacLeod) of Halifax, Deborah (Pierre de Blois and their family) of Ottawa, and Mark (Gina Maradiaga) of Toronto and grandchildren Jack and Ava Spurr. Also survived by sisters Eileen Wright (Ed) of Burlington and Dorothy Godwin of Hamilton, and several nieces and a nephew. During WWII, Bill served in the R. C.A.F. and in the Argentine British 164 Sqdn. R.A.F. He completed a tour of over 100 sorties on rocket-firing Typhoons and was awarded the D.F. C. Following the war, he earned his B.A. at the University of Toronto in 1947. He joined Benjamin Moore Paints serving in a variety of positions for 36 years, retiring in 1986 as a Director and Corporate Secretary. He was a member of Mississauga Probus Club, War Heritage Museum, Mt. Hope and 150 R. C.A.F. (North Atlantic) Wing of St. John's, Newfoundland. At Bill's request, a private family service will be held with interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. The family wishes to thank the staff at Credit Valley Hospital for kindness shown during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. Eugenie Tjan for her wise and compassionate counsel during this time. This kind, generous and gentle man will be greatly missed by family and friends. If desired, donations may be made to the Air Cadets of Canada or the War Heritage Museum, Mt. Hope.
