VINCENT PATRICK COLIZZA
February 10, 1925 - August 16, 2012
Surrounded by love, Vincent Patrick Colizza passed away on August 16, 2012. The family of Vincent are saddened by the loss of a wonderful husband to Vel who he loved beyond words for over 60 years. Vincent also leaves his loving children Pat (Lee), Vincent (Cecile), Wayne (Marlene), Marlene (Cam), Cheryl (Paul) and Lisa. He also leaves his precious grandchildren Lauren, Heather (Mike), Alicia and Kayla, Wayne, Christina, Michael, Drew, Nicholas and Michael. Predeceased by his parents Concetta and Giacomo, his in-laws Palmira and Luigi Filipuzzi; his brother Sam and sister Vicki and her husband Phil Italiano. Forever in their hearts: brother Mario (Manya); Linda (Carm) Cino, and Gloria; his beloved in-laws Inez and Elmo Nunziato, Victor Phillips; and family. Vincent was a WWII veteran, scholar, professional athlete, entrepreneur, philanthropist but ultimately a family man. Vincent received his BA in Math and Physics at McGill University in Montreal followed by a teaching certificate from the University of Toronto. At the age of 50 he completed his MBA. He was a Hamilton Tiger Cat, golden gloves boxer, and inductee into the University of Toronto Football Hall of Fame. Vincent contributed greatly to his community and served as President of the Canadian Association of Painters, member of the Halton Region Land Division, and Hamilton Harbour Commission, Past Grand Knight of the Burlington Knights of Columbus, public member of the Halton Special Education Advisory Committee and a teacher of the Junior Achievement program. He was most proud, however, of his efforts to help underprivileged children and new Canadians. Vincent's legacy is a legacy of love, strength of character and faith based in Christ. Cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend - your wisdom, brilliance, Christian values and wit will be forever sadly missed. From his family 'we told you fifteen thousand times - we love you!'. Special thanks to Acclaim Health, especially Vic, Mela and the team. Additional thanks to The Red Cross, especially Joseph, Karan and Justin. Thank you to Burlington CCAC especially Ruth and Ildi. Additional thanks to Dr. Pintea.
