JAY, Ruth
Ruth Helen (Crooker) Jay died peacefully at Sheridan Villa Nursing Home, surrounded by family, on August 16, 2012. She is survived by her husband Douglas Jay and their three sons, David (wife Kathy, Emily & Alex), Ian (wife Leesa, Gylnis) & Garth (wife Colleen, Catherine, Victoria & Madeleine). After graduating from U of T in 1945 she completed a graduate course in Early Childhood Education and supervised Nursery schools for the City of Toronto through a profound commitment to the importance of early childhood education for pre- school children. She also graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music programmes in Voice & Piano. These life-long commitments were reflected in participating in church choirs throughout her life and in volunteer work including combining her love of music and children for children visiting the nursing home where her last days were spent. Her wit and sense of humour were much appreciated by friends and colleagues throughout her life. Special thanks for the excellent care provided by Dr. Richard Shulman and his staff (Shallah, Jean & Sandy), and by the compassionate staff of Sheridan Villa under the supervision of Dr. Peter Boland. A funeral will be conducted at Christ Church Clarkson (1700 Mazo Cr., Clarkson, in Mississauga). Visitation will be held from 12:00 Friday, 24th August followed by the memorial service at 2:00. A reception will follow at the church. On-line condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca.
