VOGEL, Alfred
It is with sadness we announce the passing of our father, Alfred James (Jim) Vogel on August 5, 2012, at the age of 91. Loving father of Kathryn, James Jr and Robert (Nadia) and grandfather of Isabelle, Julia and Evan. Widower of his loving wife, Claire (nee Kilgour). Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1921, he attended Middlesex School and Harvard University in Massachusetts, before serving as a communications officer in the U.S. air force during the Second World War. He moved to Toronto after the war in 1946, where he met his wife, Claire, and began his career and family. He will be remembered as an avid sportsman and for his love of the outdoors, and Lake Simcoe in particular. Also for his kindness and generosity, close friendships with family and friends and for his always present sense of humour. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge St., Toronto. The family would like to thank the staff at The Briton House for their kind and attentive care over the last few months of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
