HOWLETT, Carole Anne
(nee Murray)
December 16, 1940 - August 11, 2012
Carole leaves a legacy of making a difference in the lives of others. She is the beloved daughter of the late Evelyn Johnston and the late John (Jack) Murray and adored big sister of the late Glenn Murray. She continues to be loved and cherished by Susan Murray; Rob and Erica Murray; Michelle Murray, Brad Lothrop and Gabriel and Daniel Lothrop. She will be forever and always in the heart of her friend Allison Graham. Carole studied interior design at the Ontario College of Art. Her career led to her work on corporate and healthcare facilities, including Casey House, Headwaters Hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital, and Whitby Mental Health Centre. She joined the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) in 1976 and took on many roles and responsibilities. She became President, Fellow and Life Member of ARIDO. Her many interests and passions made her a successful entrepreneur, tireless committee volunteer, concerned citizen, lover of native flora and fauna, good neighbor, ardent reader, and enthusiastic watercolour artist. Carole was a true and devoted friend, a mentor to many, and will be remembered by all for her beautiful smile. Her family and friends offer thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre and Perram House Hospice for their loving care and many kindnesses. Carole continues to make a difference by donating her body to University of Toronto's School of Anatomy. At her request there will be no funeral or memorial service. Carole asked that, in lieu of any gifts or donations, those who wish to remember her practice random acts of kindness or guerilla gardening!
