PHIPPEN, Catherine Anne (Cathy)
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathy on August 1st 2012, following a prolonged recovery from surgery in St. Louis Missouri. Cathy was born in Toronto March 11, 1951, to the late John and Isabelle (Malcolm) Phippen. She was a member of Glenview Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Lawrence Park Collegiate and attended Ryerson College. In her youth Cathy enjoyed skiing at Craigleith and sharing wonderful moments with friends and family at Georgian Bay. As an adult she worked at a Montreal newspaper and at one time owned an Artisan Gallery in California. She cherished her lifelong friends in Ontario and made new friends during her life in the US. Cathy enjoyed the simple things in life, whether it was playing guitar, enjoying music or gardening. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. All who knew her will remember her love of family and love of life. She is survived by her loving daughters, Julia (Greg) Jones, and their son Riley, Honolulu Hawaii, and Andrea Phippen, Regina Saskatchewan. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Nancy (Greg) Kennedy and Mary (Robert) MacDonald and her dear brother Malcolm Phippen; many cousins, her aunt and uncle, and her good friend Sally Johnson. A funeral service will be held at a later date in Hawaii. Family and friends will gather in October at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, for a service of remembrance.
