BROWN, Watson


Peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family, in his 78th year, after many lengthy illnesses on Saturday August 4th 2012 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Husband and best friend of Cecilia his beloved wife of 56 years. Loving father of Kate Brown and son-in law Brian Groombridge. Grandson Jack Groombridge was always in his thoughts and heart. Dear brother of Avril, the late Margo and Ron. Cherished Uncle of Watson, Fiona, Alan and Sonya. Dear brother-in-law to Jeanne. Watson was born in Auchinloch, Scotland and got the travel urge at an early age. After attending the Royal Technical College, School of Navigation, Glasgow he joined the merchant navy as a communications officer and travelled around the world. He later emigrated to Canada. Watson retired at 54 as Sales Manager, Photographic Division of W. Carsen Co. Ltd and with Cecilia, sailed through many parts of Florida. Later they motorhomed across Canada and the Southwestern USA for some 20 years. His kind and generous nature drew many people to him and he was truly loved and respected by all who knew him. Special thanks to the staff of 4 west and 4 central at O.T.M.H for their loving devoted and professional care. Grateful thanks to cousin Archie McCallum for his constant help and support. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Watson's life will be arranged at a later date. Donations in Watson's honour may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society or COPD Canada.
