TOWNLEY, Peter G. C.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter 'Ollie' Townley on August 3rd, 2012 at Windsor Regional Hospital at the age of 62. Peter was the loving husband of 39 years to Cherry (née Armour), beloved father to Danielle (David Swain) and Brett, proud grandfather to Sophie and Eleanor. Also survived by sister Jane (Martin Dekkers), brother David (Cherie Carrier) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Robert and Alice Townley of Toronto and older brother Ron.
Peter met Cherry at the University of Guelph while he was pursuing a B.Sc., before serving as a Constable in the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force from 1973 to 1976. He then re-entered the world of academics, earning an M.A. from the University of Guelph followed by a Ph.D from Queen's University. He taught Economics for 25 years at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, then spent the past 6 years as Professor and Head of Economics at the University of Windsor in Ontario. He will be missed.
At his request there will be no funeral service, but, as Peter strongly believed in children participating in sports, any family and friends who so desire may make a donation in memory to 'jumpstart.canadiantire.ca' on his behalf.
