Arvid Aleksander Pettersen
October 29, 1919 - July 28, 2012 Timeless in spirit in his 93rd year, beloved husband of 68 years to his bride Frances. He now joins his son Leif (2008), his parents, brother, sister and many friends. After a brief stay at the Veteran's Palliative Care Wing at Sunnybrook and a long, meaningful life.
He leaves dear Frances, son Erik (Nanette), daughter Sarah and daughter-in-law Lee. Loving grandfather of Craig, Jamie, Kate and Ali.
Arvid was a decent, gentle man who lived his life with optimism, contentment and a twinkle. Born in Norway, proudly served in WWII, a devoted husband and family man, businessman, talented athlete, bridge player, neighbour and friend to many. Member of Summit Golf & CC and the 24 Karat Club. Guided by a kind heart, he was unfailingly gracious, accepting, open, giving and a lot of fun. He was his own man who made friends to the end. Lucky to have him as long as we did, we will miss his presence. ''Sov godt.'
In lieu of flowers, a donation in honour of Arvid's loved ones can be made to The Alzheimer Society, SPRINT (416) 481-6411 or the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Or ''pay it forward'' and do a good deed in his memory.
Friends welcome on Wednesday, August 8th at 2 p.m. for a service at St. Clement's Church, Toronto. (70 St. Clement's Ave at the corner of Duplex. Five blocks north of Eglinton, one block west of Yonge).
