RIDGE, Howard George
Passed away peacefully in his 84th year at Perram House Hospice on Friday July 27th in the presence of family. Loving husband of 15 years of Roma Reynolds. Married previously to Bernice Mary (nee MacAllister) for 42 years, until she passed away.
Beloved father of Mark (Andrea), Cynthia (Yuri) and Melodie (Michael). Proud grandfather of Caitlin, Sierra, Alexander, Jasper and Fraser. Howard was born on December 5th, 1928, the only child of the late Stanley and Grace Ridge. Upon completion of High School in 1946, Howard began his career with Union Carbide where he worked until his retirement in 1986. Howard was an avid tennis player, a sport he enjoyed from his childhood until very recently. He was also a sailor and since 1975 a member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, first as a Sharkie and then a member of the C&C 27 fleet. Howard will be remembered for his unique sense of humor that put people at ease and his ability to have friends in any harbour where he dropped his anchor. A celebration of Howard's life will be held on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 1pm followed by a service at 2pm from THE MOUNT PLEASANT VISITATION CENTRE, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto (East Gate Entrance north of St. Clair Ave, 416-485-5572) It was Howard's wish that donations be made to Perram House in lieu of flowers. The family would like to thank the staff of Perram House for the excellent care that Howard received during his final weeks.
