PHILP, Claire Louise
Tragically , as a result of a car accident near Parry Sound while at a summer job at Killbear Provincial Park on July 13, 2012, Claire Louise Philp of Churchill, Ontario. At the age of 17, Claire was a recent graduate of Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil where she excelled in social activism, hockey, rugby, music and friendship. Her positive, energetic leadership inspired many in too short a life. She delighted in travelling the world and was headed for many more accomplishments at Acadia University 's Outdoor Education and Environmental Sustainability Program this Fall.
  Greatly loved and 'never gave us an ounce of trouble' daughter of Paula May Murphy and Andrew Philp and outstanding best friend and sister to George Philp. Claire loved our big, fun family and she will be incredibly missed by grandparents Ken and Catherine Philp and pre-deceased by John and Louise Murphy; aunts and uncles Nancy and Steve Pelletier, John Philp and Sara Turner and Martin Mittelstaedt, and pre- deceased by Margaret Philp, Scott and Norma Murphy and Heather Murphy. Beloved friend and cousin to Ian and Thomas Pelletier, Elizabeth and Logan Philp, Christian, Hannah, Maya and Charlotte Mittelstaedt, Patrick (Nicky and son Liam) and Dylan Murphy and Zoe and Alistair McLean.
  Whether at school, in the community or on the hockey bench, Claire was a caring cheerleader for her friends, team and classmates. She always had a smile and encouragement for others. A more beloved daughter we cannot imagine.
  Visitation will be held at Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil on Friday July 27th from 1 to 3 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Celebration of Claire's life will be held at Collier United Church in Barrie on Sunday July 29th at 2pm. Although Claire loved flowers, donations would be appreciated in Claire's name to 'Free the Children', a charity she championed in high school. Claire's life has been captured by two local newspapers.
