Ronald F. McLean
b. August 17th, 1947
Ron passed away in North Saanich, BC on July 12th, 2012, after a brave battle with cancer. He was surrounded by Barbara, his wife; son Alexander; and daughter Sarah (son- in-law Colin and grandson Evan). Ron is also survived by his parents, Alex and Vivian McLean, and pre- deceased by his brother Doug, of Windsor, Ontario.
Professionally, Ron was well known around the world as a Senior Human Resources Executive with Placer Dome, Teck Resources and GoldCorp.
Ron had a passion for travel, visiting all corners of the globe, yet his favourite destination remained Chile, which he considered his second home. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed sharing books he discovered. One of his greatest joys was to lose graciously to his grandson at Uno and Monopoly. Above all he was notorious for his inimitable wit and humour.
His family would like to thank Dr. H Lim of the BC Cancer Agency Vancouver, the nursing staff at the chemo unit, and the staff at Three Bridges Nursing Unit, in particular Angela, for the wonderful care that Ron received over the years. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the BC Cancer Agency Foundation, at 600 10th Ave, Vancouver BC.
At Ron's request, there will be no funeral but a private celebration of life in North Saanich. A second celebration will be arranged in Vancouver at a future date.
