CARRUTHERS, Margaret Jean (nee Robertson)
Jean passed away, aged 91, on June 14th, 2012 at the Briton House, suddenly but after a long decline. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill after 68 years of marriage, and by her two sons Ian and Brian. She is survived by her daughter Margo and her husband Dr. Jim Hilton, by her grandchildren Kate (Rob Centa), Anne (Greg Sullivan) and Betsy (Jamie Macintosh) and her two great-grandchildren Jack and Charlie. She will be deeply missed by her dear sister Dorothy Trimble and many Carruthers and Trimble nieces and nephews. Jean will be remembered for her keen mind and her many enthusiasms including her beautiful garden, her French classes, her piano and violin, her beloved cottage, and especially for her achievements in bridge and golf at Rosedale Golf Club. Profound gratitude is extended to the skilled and dedicated staff at Briton House for their compassionate care over 7 years, and to her special caregiver, Tina Fernandez, whose loving kindness brightened each day and meant so much to both Jean and Margo. Funeral arrangements include a visitation at 10 a.m. and a service to follow at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21st at Lawrence Park Community Church, 2180 Bayview Avenue, south of Lawrence Ave. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Jean's name to Youthlink (formerly Big Sister Assn.), 747 Warden Toronto, ON M1L 4A8, the organization to which she gave so much of herself, or to New Circles Community Services, 10 Gateway, North York, ON M3C 3A1.
