OMELAN (EMIL) IVAN TELIZYN

Toronto, Canada, March 29, 2011After a long battle with Parkinson's disease, he died in his sleep in Scarborough, Ontario. He was buried in a private funeral ceremony organized at the discretion of a non- family executor with a limited number of participants and excluding his immediate family. He was interred beside his wife Nina (2001) and daughter Daria (2005) in Oakville, Ontario. He began his art studies at the age of 11 in Ukraine. From 1946-49 he attended an Art Studio in Aschaffenburg am Main, Germany. Since then he painted many portraits and paysages. In 1949-50 he went to Commercial Art School classes in Hamilton. Later in Toronto he stage designed various plays for the theatre ensemble Zahrawa which were directed by his half-brother Zdzislaw. Professionally he worked as stage designer in both CFTO and CBC in Toronto. Upon his retirement from CBC, he worked full time on designs and icons for various churches and monuments across Canada and U.S. He is missed by many, particularly by his brother Oleg and sister-in-law Sylvia, nephew Adrian and nieces Ra´ssa and Christina, and their families.
