October 31, 2009
Surrounded by her loving family, Bonnie Cameron ended her 10 year battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension on Saturday, October 31. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Alica Mehlenbacher and partner, Jeff Culver. Predeceased by her loving step-father, David Van Linn, and grandfather Joseph Sweeney, Bonnie will be sadly missed by her sisters, Samantha Whitlow (Rob), and Penny Mehlenbacher, brother, Keith Mehlenbacher, (Danielle), mother, Joanne Sweeney, (Jack), grandmother, Hazel Sweeney, and father Stanley Mehlenbacher. Bonnie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her. Bonnie's family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Clive Davis and staff of the CCU at Hamilton General Hospital, and to Dr. John Granton and the staff of the Medical Surgical ICU at Toronto General Hospital. Both Dr. Davis and Dr. Granton followed Bonnie's decade long struggle with PAH, enlisting the expertise of an entire network of health professionals. To the end, they fought to obtain the best medical support for Bonnie as she struggled with this rare lung disease.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at TRUSCOTT BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1309 King St. E., Hamilton, on Saturday, November 14. Visitation 11:00 - 1:00, with service following.
In lieu of flowers, deposits to a trust for Alica at any TD Canada Trust, account 6419460-2500, or donations to the Coronary Care Unit, Hamilton General Hospital, or Medical Surgical ICU at the Toronto General Hospital, would be appreciated by the family. (Deposits to the trust fund for Alica will not receive a tax receipt.)
