GRAND, Dorothy I. (nee Mace)
Peacefully and surrounded by her loving and large family in her 90th year on November 2, 2009 after a brief illness. Much loved wife of the late William M Grand. Loving sister to Audrey Mace and Betty Chase. Grammie will be forever loved and missed by her six children and their families; Jane (Bill Clark), Ginny (Scott Hicks), Rob, Drew, and Tim; Bill (Myra), Katherine (Matt Dainty), Bill (Christin), Ryan and Spencer; Doug (Carolyn), Lindsay, Erin, and Allison; Ginnie (Tom Wright), Jodi (Neil Ritchie), Heather and Emily; David (Liz), Andrea, Gillian, Christopher, Stephanie and Broidy; Stephen (Diana) Ashley, Matthew, Tom, and Karley; and her nine great-grandchildren. Her Maritime roots helped keep us grounded and made sure we did not take ourselves too seriously. We will forever miss her laughter, friendship, phone calls and love of life. She was a grandmother to many and an inspiration to everyone she touched. Her love of friends, bridge games, and family gatherings in Muskoka gave us the joy of knowing a loving, energetic, and caring mother. Friends are welcome to share stories and memories with Dorothy's family at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave West (2 lights west of Yonge St.) on Wednesday November 4th from 3:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00. A celebration of her long and wonderful life will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West on Thursday November 5th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
