RUTLEDGE, Eva Margie (nee McCurdy)
After a decline, Eva (known to many as Eve), passed away Thursday morning, July 9th, 2009, in Calgary, Alberta. Eva was the loving and beloved wife of Wayne Rutledge and mother of Margie and Alicean (Frank). She is survived by her grandchildren Espe, Jacob and Vincent Currie of Toronto and Theo, Hugo and Evie van der Voet of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister, Winnie Klay, of Tampa, Florida.
Eva was born at her family's home - Shady Nook - in Mercer County, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1917. Having lived in many places throughout the United States, she immigrated to Canada with Wayne and the girls in 1966. In Calgary, Eve taught for many years at Mount Royal College. She loved teaching and was loved and respected in return by both colleagues and students.
Eva was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved conversation, political debate and good food. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at McInnis and Holloway (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
