February 15, 1920 ­ July 2, 2009 L. TOM LEE Tom, passed away suddenly on July 2, 2009 at the age of 89 years young in Calgary, Alberta. Predeceased by his first wife, Vera K. Lee (nee Pon). Tom was a loving brother to Alma (Simone) and Ed, and predeceasedby Jack, Peter, Ralph, William, Donald, Ronald, and sister, Jean. Tom was born in Chatham, Ontario on February 15, 1920. In 1941-1942 he went to Ottawa Department of Transport Radio Division in the Naval Intelligence Armed Forces, intercepting coded messages from Germany and Japan's mobile services. From 1942-1945 Tom worked as a radio operator. In 1954 Tom received his mechanics license at the University of Western Ontario, and owned and operated his own auto body repair and mechanic shop (Keele & Dundas). Tom started investing in apartment buildings and commercial properties in the 1960's to present day in Toronto, Kitchener, Port Credit, Seattle, WA., and finally Calgary. He was able to semi-retire at the age of 45 years old and spent his time managing his properties and stocks. His proudest achievement was assembling land for the Mon Sheong Foundation Seniors Home in Toronto (Beverly Street) in 1970. He will be missed by his wife, Teresa Lee and children, Cheryl (grandchildren-Matthew, Meghan and Kenji), Bert (wife, Nita, grandchildren - Andrew, Krista, Destine and Austin) Trudy, and Tom Jr. (wife Wendy, grandchildren - Meisha and Elliot) and step child, Marites. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Humphrey Funeral Home-A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4G 3A8, 416-487-4523, on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Please RSVP ltlee@shaw.ca.
