MTS profit doubles

Winnipeg — Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. more than doubled its third-quarter profit, as cost-cutting efforts offset a decline in revenue from its older communication services.Profit and comprehensive income rose to $27.9-million or 43 cents per share, up from $13.7-million or 21 cents per share a year earlier.Revenue fell to $449.4 million from $476.
