Export showing not as bad as feared

OTTAWA — Canada's battered export sector showed a tiny glimmer of hope in October, but the overall trade surplus shrank to $3.78-billion, the smallest since January, Statistics Canada said Thursday. The surplus was slightly higher than the $3.3-billion expected by economists, but down from the revised September surplus of $4.25-billion. It marked the second straight month of decline for the trade surplus.
