Large and late: Markets are real swingers

Even for a veteran trader like Richard Briggs, the recent days of stomach-churning market swings are hard to swallow – if he even gets a chance to swallow. “We start here at 6:30 in the morning, and on days like today, I don't even get to grab a bite,” said Mr. Briggs, a broker on the Montreal trading desk of MF Global Canada, which specializes in currency and commodity futures but has its fingers in the equity and bond markets.
