European watchdogs call for rating agency oversight body

BRUSSELS — Credit rating agencies, criticized for failing to warn investors about the risks of U.S. subprime mortgage-related products, should support a proposed global industry oversight body or face more regulation, European Union market watchdogs said on Monday.
